From Contractions to Contract: Congratulations Nicole, Clark and Baby Loxley!

New HomeownersNicole and Clark are two of the bravest people I have ever had the pleasure to work with. When they first contacted me to help them find a home, Nicole was about 6 months along in her pregnancy and they were determined to find a home prior to baby coming into the world. With a goal of finding a home in between their families who live in St. Helens and Tualatin, we explored homes from North Portland to North Plains. It wasn’t long before budget and the vision for their first home began to collide a bit, and they began to consider purchasing a home that needed quite a bit of work. While I am in full-support of the opportunity to earn sweat equity, I was able to share with them my experience of having a home that needs love, a new baby that needs love, and a husband whom you love that is not all that handy (Sorry, babe). Upon Clark’s admission that he was no Bob Villa, it was decided that it would be best to be patient and see what the next few weeks would hold even if it meant baby came before keys.

A few days later Nicole began to have contractions and as fate would have it, a turn-key bank-owned beauty in a quiet community came on the market in Hillsboro. We met at the house that night, and put together a solid offer which translated in them getting the home despite competing against other offers. Baby Loxley ended up going a couple of weeks past his due date just in time for us to wrap up inspections. This was good news on the real estate front, but at a whopping 10+ pounds I’m sure Nicole may have organized it a bit differently. Buying a home is a bit like child-birth, afterall; there may be some pains along the way but in the end, the joy hopefully overcomes the challenges and you may even forget all about it…I proudly coin this term “HomeNesia” TM.

Nicole, Clark and Baby Loxley, I wish you all of the happiness in the world with your new family and your new home!

I would love to be a part of  your next move.
